Catching Fireflies R Articulation

Hello again :-)
I hope you're having a great week.
I just want to take a minute to let everyone in the Oklahoma area know that we are thinking of them here in the Northeast; I hope all of our "speechies" out there are safe with their families.

Tonight I have a "first" for Just Speechie SLP readers---an articulation activity. It's not that I don't work on articulation (actually, motor speech disorders are my favorite thing to treat), it's just that I have many articulation materials already, so don't feel like I need to make a lot more. That being said, I have found that my students love these fireflies, and I was looking for some new and fun homework ideas for my kiddos, so articulation fireflies it is!

Are you sick of cutting out stimulus cards? Yup, me too. That's why I decided to make articulation firefly boards, and not cards. First up is prevocalic and vocalic /r/.....
Here's a peek at some of the boards:

Included you receive 8 articulation boards (one each for prevocalic /r/, OR, ER, IRE, AR, AIR, EAR, and /r/ blends). Each stimulus item may be produced at the word, phrase, sentence, or conversational level, at your discretion.
Each board has twelve pictures in mixed positions; use the boards for "Chipper" games, as a magnet board, for a coin toss game, with a flashlight, or cut out the pictures to make stimulus cards for Headbandz, etc. Your imagination is the limit! I have also included the word list for reference with the pictures :-)
Find my activity here. Please watch for more Firefly articulation boards this week, and don't forget my SALE (get 20% off) ends tonight!

Stay Safe,
Rebecca-SLP :-)

Stars and Stripes Cause and Effect FABULOUS FREEBIE

Hello again! It's been a while....well, a few weeks anyway.
The past few weeks at work have been overwhelmingly busy, but I'm over the hump, and I'm thrilled to be back to blogging. I didn't expect to miss it as much as I did! I haven't realized how fun it's been to share some simple ideas and materials with everyone :-)

In thinking about the upcoming Memorial Day holiday, I wanted to make something festive but useful for my students right now. I have several students who need more practice with cause and effect, so I decided to make a simple cause and effect matching game.

I bought this sweet accordion flower clipart a while ago, and I've been saving it for something special. I love that the flowers are red, white, and blue. I'm sure I'll be making more materials with these.

The gist of my activity is to match two effect accordion flowers (white and blue) with one cause flower (red). The students will make groups of three in red, white, and blue (hence the "stars and stripes" theme ;).

Here's a peek at my activity.

I also think this would be fun for Fourth of July, so if you're working in the summer you may want to grab it now. (Sorry if you're working in the summer!) As always, thanks for reading my blog, and please leave feedback so I know if this is useful for you, too! Grab this Fabulous Freebie here.

Thanks for hanging in there,

Helping Hands Sentences FREEBIE!

Happy Better Hearing and Speech Month!

Are you feeling stressed, tired, and overwhelmed at work right now? Yeah, me too. I probably won't be posting as much as usual in the next few weeks because I have SO many evaluations, IEPs, and reports that I am working on right now :-(

Feel like you need a helping hand with some easy therapy and homework ideas for your clients right now? Me too! That's why I created my Helping Hands Sentences activity. My Springtime Sentence Repetition for Auditory Working Memory Freebie has been a huge hit on TPT, so I thought I would make another sentence repetition freebie that could be used multiple ways.

Here are five ideas that I have to do with this activity:

1. Sentence repetition: play the board game and have the student repeat each sentence verbatim.
2. Auditory Closure: play the board game, read each sentence, then repeat but leave off the last word for the student to fill in the blank.
3. Compound sentences: play the board game and have the student draw two cards per turn to combine with “and” on the mat.
4. Present, past, and future tense verbs: play the board game and have the student say the sentence in past, present, and future tense while moving the card along the mat (e.g., “Yesterday I washed the dishes”, “Today I am washing the dishes”, “Tomorrow I will wash the dishes”
5. Social inferencing: play the board game and ask the student how someone might feel if the student did that.

I've included 40 4-8 word sentence cards, ten blank cards for creating your own, a past/present/future verb tense mat, an "and" mat, and a board game!
Here's a peek:

I purposely made this activity black-and-white so that we can all save on colored ink! Do you have any other ideas about how to use this? If so, please share :-) Find my Fabulous Freebie here.

Stay tuned for more towards the middle of the month, and thanks for reading Just Speechie SLP!
